What does Fatima mean?
Fatima is a beautiful Muslim girl name of Arabic origin. It means “One who abstains”. Daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, Sayyida Fatima az-Zahra.
Naming a child after the Prophets, the Companions and the righteous is a cherished tradition: it connects the child to a noble example from the very first day.
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged parents to choose names with good meanings, and to perform the Aqiqah and shave the baby’s head on the seventh day.
